The story of the “Spirit of 1776” suffrage wagon started when I was ten years old when asking my grandfather Wilmer Kearns questions about the horse drawn wagon stored in his garage.  That’s the beginning. The plot thickened as I asked more questions and put together the pieces for myself. I started blogging on the wagon in 2009, in part to learn more about the campaign of American women to win the right to vote. That is the overview and the rest developed over the years. The story is a love story—of my grandparents meeting and my labor of love in pulling everything together.

Suffrage Wagon News Channel has been publishing since 2009.

SuffrageCentennials.com is the larger context of the story…about how 2020 is the 100th anniversary of American women voting.
