I was working on what makes me happy recently. And I emerged from a bout reading about how to make terrific Chinese food, with color images of completed dishes ready to serve. I had a smile on my face and realized how much I love the Chinese new year at the start of each year.

Here I am, decades later, following recipes for real, honest-to-goodness Chinese food. I’m having lunch with Chinese friends in the near future. They picked the restaurant. It’s New Mexican fare. Or, beans and rice and melted cheese. Santa Fe isn’t known far and wide for its Chinese food. But San Francisco is.

Maybe I should register for a Chinese cooking class in San Francisco. Today it is cold here in New Mexico. Soon it will be hot and stay that way until the fall season in September. I don’t know where I will be then. Stay tuned.
